My scooter will not run or fails to operate.
There are several reasons why a scooter may fail to operate, so the first thing to check is the battery. Make sure that the scooter's charging unit is connected, and then plug the charger into a standard outlet. Continue charging until the meter shows full.
The scooter is fully charged but will not run.
Here are some reasons for this issue:
The key is not in the scooter.
Insert the scooter key into the key pot and turn it to the ON position.
The key is not inserted correctly.
Insert the key completely into the key pot and turn it to ON.
Manual free-wheeling switch or lever.
Ensure the manual freewheeling switch (or lever) is in the OFF position. This switch allows you to disengage the motor and braking systems for manual pushing.
Power-save mode has activated.
Remove the key, wait at least 45 seconds, and reinsert it. This feature prevents battery discharge when not in motion and can activate after 2 to 5 minutes.
Circuit breaker needs to be reset.
Push the main circuit breaker button to reset the motor and batteries. For some scooters, this is marked as the RESET button.
If you have a collapsible scooter, check these potential problems:
The batteries are not seated/connected properly.
Make sure both batteries are correctly seated in the scooter base and that clip-type batteries are fully connected to their terminals.
Front-to-Rear harness is not connected.
Ensure the harness connecting the rear and front is properly attached; it can become dislodged during normal use.
The battery meter dips very low when I press the throttle.
A low battery charge may cause this issue. Charge your batteries fully; operating on low charge can lead to unexpected stops. If the batteries are old, consider having them load tested.
The scooter hesitates or runs slowly.
This can be due to:
Low battery charge.
Charge your batteries fully.
Operating on an upward slope.
Hesitation may occur on inclines; scooters will typically run slower on a steep incline.
Power chair and scooter are at maximum capacity.
Carrying a rider near maximum capacity may slow down performance.
My circuit breaker keeps tripping.
This often indicates issues with your batteries. If they are older, charge them more frequently and consider getting them load tested.
